Telent Technology’s Urban Traffic team has had an incredibly busy and productive 2025. Our sustained operational performance, retaining and securing major maintenance contracts, pushing our market presence to nearly one third of UK traffic signal sites, and now maintaining over nine thousand controllers, demonstrates our clear ambition to lead the UK ITS sector. This success has paved the way for strategic growth and, most excitingly, our formal partnership with Westcotec.
Why Westcotec? A Partnership Built on Shared Values and Innovation
For years, Telent has successfully worked with Westcotec in areas like Kent, West Sussex, and Southampton. As a leading UK Traffic Signals provider, our success has always been based on our ability to collaborate and deliver complex schemes supported by a high-performing supply chain. As we reviewed our Urban Traffic strategy at the end of 2024, it became obvious that within the specialist ITS areas where we rely on our partners; a deeper relationship was required. This led us to identifying key suppliers we wanted to bring into more formal relationships to create a high-specification ITS ecosystem.
Westcotec was the first name on my list; a company I knew aligned perfectly with Telent’s values, technical ability, and ambition.
Immediate Success: Remote Monitoring Integration
Following the partnership announcement, we are thrilled to share an immediate success story: the successful integration of Westcotec’s remote monitoring capability into our Optima Hub platform. This was a superb achievement, delivered in just two weeks between our respective engineering departments. It now seamlessly provides real-time remote monitoring and data capture from Westcotec signs within the client estate.
This opens up massive future opportunities to further integrate technologies like Flood Detection systems and Over-height Vehicle detectors from the wider Westcotec product suite.
Strategic Growth: Backed by MGroup
Alongside this partnership, our commitment to growth was solidified by the successful acquisition of Telent Technology Limited by Tier 1 contractor MGroup in August this year. This change ensures that Telent’s Urban Traffic offering, both our people and our traffic systems, will see further development and investment as we strive to innovate and grow within the UK ITS sector alongside our key partners.
Looking Ahead: Expanding Operational Capabilities in 2026
Looking ahead to 2026, we are extremely excited to expand our partnership into the operational space. This next phase brings together Telent’s UK-wide HERS Gold Award engineering resource of over 200 field engineers and Westcotec’s multi-award-winning British made products.
This synergy will allow us to broaden our capability to deliver comprehensive installation services, as well as offering ongoing planned and reactive maintenance on all VAS, SIDs, and other Westcotec technology.
